James Walker was born in Londonderry, Ireland, November 14 1987, and died at his home at Colo, Iowa, July 16, 1920, at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 2 days. In 1868 he came to De Kalb, Ill., and on December 16, 1886, was married to Miss Hannah Merriott. To this union were born six children, Mabel who died in infancy; William, Mrs. Elizabeth Peddicord, Alice, Bessie and Roy, who, with a sister, Mrs. C. R. Crumb [should be Crum], of Chicago, survive him. In 1903 he came with his family to Colo, where he resided on a farm north of Colo until the time of his death. He was a kind husband and loving father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him Mr. Walker had been in a serious condition with cancer of the stomach for a long time. He bore the suffering, which at times was intense, with patience and fortitude.
Funeral services were held at the home Sunday at 10 a. m. conducted by Rev. E. J. Laird. The body was taken to DeKalb, Ill., for burial. His wife, children, three sisters and one or two other relatives accompanied the body to its last resting place. They took No. 12 (the fast train) at Nevada. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones.
