ZEARING GIRL WAS ASPHYXIATED
RUBY LE FEVER, DESPONDENT INHALED GAS IN HER ROOM AT CEDAR RAPIDS

Zearing, Nov. 9--Miss Ruby LeFever, 19, popular Zearing girl, is dead of asphyxiation today as a result of inhaling gas in her room at Cedar Rapids, while in a fit of despondency over ill health, early Sunday.She was found dead by her roommate, Miss Gertrude Berry, when she returned to the room after having stopped out to secure a lunch for Miss LeFever.
Failing in health over a year, Miss LeFever had been unable to go out to her work since Thursday and had ben very despondent.
When the friend returned and found the unconscious girl she called the police and a physician and everything possible was done to resuscitate the girl, but to no avail.
The coroner's inquest found that the girl came to her death through "inhalation of gas."
The news of the asphyxiation of Miss LeFever came as a distinct shock to her relatives and friends here The girl had before her illness ben a person of unusual cheer and carried sunshine wherever she might go.
Ruby LeFever was born near Mitchell, Neb., September 30, 1912. She came with her people to Zearing as a small girl, attended the local school and graduated with the class of 1930. Since her graduation she had been employed in Ames and Cedar Rapids.
Besides her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ralph LeFever, she leaves a sister Dorothy, brothers Clifford and Claude, grandparents Mr. and Mrs. A. D. LeFever of Zearing and grandmother, Mrs. Mary Billington of Warrensburg, Mo.
The grandmother arrived from Missouri early today but definite funeral arrangement will be dependent upon the arrival of the brother Claude from Leesville, La., where he is now located.
