Mrs. Strickler Was Former Mt. Ayr Girl

Zearing, March 24--People of this community were shocked to year of the death of Mrs. E. N. Strickler which occurred Saturday morning about nine o'clock at the Iowa Sanitarium at Nevada, death being due to embolism following an operation Friday morning. Although Mrs. Strickler had been a resident here for not quite a year she had made a wide circle of friends and will be greatly missed.

Lucy Bennett Strickler was born at Mount Ayr, Iowa, March 25, 1901 and grew to womanhood at that place where she graduated from the high school, then taught school in Ringgold county later attending Des Moines University. At Des Moines April 22, 1921 she was united in marriage to Emery N. Strickler a former Rhodes young man. They continued to make their home in Des Moines for three years then went to Knoxville where Mr. Strickler taught in the public school for six years.

In May 1930, Mr. and Mrs. Strickler came to Zearing to enter business for themselves and make their home, Mr. Strickler taking over the Baxter Pharmacy. By her pleasing and courteous manner and capability, Mrs. Strickler made many friends who extend to the bereaved husband, parents and other relatives their sincere sympathy.

Besides the husband she leaves to mourn her loss her parents Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Bennett, Mrs. Warrick, Misses Lodena and Ila Bennett all of Mount Ayr. A brother preceded her in death in 1920.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock from the Church of Christ and body taken to Mount Ayr where services were held today and where interment was made. Relatives who accompanied the body to Mount Ayr were the husband, parents, sisters and sister-in-law Mrs. Nina Baker.

Other relatives who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Strickler, Mr. and Mrs. Harold White and children, Mrs. Nina Baker and daughters of Rhodes, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Walker Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Charles Walker Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Wilson of Nevada.
