STORY CITY MAN DIED LAST NIGHT

HAAKON FRETTE, VICTIM OF CANCER, PASSED AWAY AT 6:30 P. M., SUNDAY

Special to the Journal.
Story City, Feb. 16--Haakon Frette, 78, for about 30 years a resident of this community, died at the Story City hospital Sunday evening at 6:30, where he had been confined for 8 weeks. Cancer was the cause of his death.

Mr. Frette was a native of Etna, Norway, where he was born April 17, 1857. He came to America 48 years ago, settling first in Illinois, but came out to Iowa and located near Story City about thirty years ago.

He was united in marriage April 18, 1883, to Sarah Thorson* in Illinois, and they leave five daughters and one son. Mrs. Frette died about six years ago.

The surviving children are Mrs. Lewis Oleson, Mrs. Nels Thompson, Mrs. Henry Hanson and Elmer Frette, all of Story City, Mrs. I. W. Brownold of Des Moines and Mrs. Jake Larson of Humboldt. There are also 23 grand children and 2 great grandchildren.

While the time of the funeral is not definitely determined at this time, it is thought the services will be held Friday afternoon at Immanuel church.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: In this obit, Haakon Frette's wife is named as Sarah Thorson. She is often referred to as Sarah Severeid also. Her father was Thor Severeid so in the patronymic naming system she would could be Sarah Severeid/Thorson/Thorsdatter.

I would be remiss if I did not mention that I have also seen Haakon Frette referred to as Hogan Frette.
