Boston Funeral Wednesday Afternoon

McCallsburg, Jan. 10--The funeral of John H. Boston was held Wednesday afternoon at the Presbyterian church which was filled to capacity with relatives and friends. Rev. C. E. Lookingbill of Nevada officiated. The pall bearers, brother Masons were A. C. Hanson, J. S. Thompson, B. H. Baumgardner, F. E. Nail, Henry Mehlow and J. C. Smith the latter of Fernald. The music was furnished by Mrs. F. E. Nail and Miss Catherine Craig who sang Beautiful Isle, In the Garden, and No Disappointment in Heaven. Miss Cleo Tett pianist. The many beautiful flowers were in charge of Mrs. E. O. Dillin and Mrs. A. G. Graves. Interment was made in the Warren township cemetery using the ritualistic ceremony of the Masonic lodge of which he was a member for forty three years and requested they have charge of his burial.

John H. Boston was born at Round Grove, Ill., Feb. 19, 1863 and passed away at his home here Jan. 5, 1931 at the age of 67 years. He was a son of John A. and Sarah B. Boston and with the family came to Iowa when but three years of age, making him one of the pioneer settlers of Warren township. The family settled on a farm three miles south of town where he grew to manhood. He was married Dec. 25, 1885 to Mrs. Ella Hendrickson of this place. To them were born three children, Grace who died several years ago, Nora who is Mrs. Maurice Britten, and and the son Glen. These with ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren with two sisters Mrs. Ella Wyatt of Manning, and Mrs. Mary Freese of Rushville, Neb., and two brothers Alfred of Coon Rapids and Orrin of Webster, Fla., are left to mourn his passing. Two brothers Emery and Lewis had preceded him in death.

Mr. Boston with the exception of a few years has pent most of his life in Story county. He had always taken an active part in community affairs until failing health caused his retirement from active duties. He served on the school board, postmaster and mayor.

Mr. Boston had been a very poor health for several years, but was taken seriously New Years eve and failed rapidly until the end.

Relatives from away at the funeral were his sister Mrs. Ella Wyatt of Manning, W. J. Hendrickson, Story City, Mrs. P. J. Boston, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Boston, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ball of Nevada and Floyd Cole of Kenosha, Wis. The family are extended the sympathy of the people of the community in their loss.
