She was married to Edwin R. Rice, at Sheldahl, March 5, 1878 and to this union four children were born, in their home in Nevada.

Two of the children, Effie and Charles, died in infancy. One daughter, Mrs. Mildred Irvine lives at Grassy Lake, Alberta, Canada. The other daughter who had always lived in the home, had cared for the mother since the death of the husband and father over 20 years ago.

Mrs. Rice was a woman who stayed close within her home and did not have a wide acquaintance, but among those with whom she was known, she was loved and deeply respected.

She had been in failing health for the past four years, but had been confined to her home for the last eight months, much of the time either in her bed or chair.
