MR. CLEMMER SR. DIED LAST NIGHT
BODY BROUGHT TO NEVADA FOR BURIAL--FUNERAL ON WEDNESDAY
George G. Clemmer, 76, who died at his home in Des Moines Monday night, will be buried in the Nevada cemetery Wednesday afternoon following brief services at the Morfoot Funeral home at 2:30, in charge of Rev. Fr. Paul Morosco of Granger, long=time friend of the family.
Mr. Clemmer leaves his wife, 4 daughters and 6 sons, included among the latter being J. Neal Clemmer of 1034 Eighth street, Nevada.
Celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of his wedding on July 23 last, this is the first death in the large family, with the exception of two small grandsons who died here and few years ago.
The family home has been at Ferguson for a number of years, until a short time ago when it was moved to Des Moines.
George Gance Clemmer, the second son of Dr. J. Neal Clemmer and Elizabeth Z. Clemmer, was born in Decorah, Iowa on January 11, 1856, and passed away at his home in Des Moines on August 8, 1932, at the age of 76 years, 6 months, and 27 days.
When one year of age his parents moved to Juda, Wisconsin, where he grew to manhood. On June 11, 1876 when 30 years of age he entered the services of the Chicago, Milwaukee and Saint Paul railroad, at Janesville, Wisconsin. He continued in the train and engine service for a period of 55 years, resigning his position of July 6, 1931, after a light stroke of paralysis, which eventually was the cause of his death.
On July 23, 1882 he was united in marriage to Mary Catherine Sullivan at Cadiz, Wisconsin. To this union were born 6 sons and 4 daughters all of whom are living and with the wife and mother are left to mourn the passing of husband and father.
Mr. and Mrs. Clemmer celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on July 23, 1932 at their home in Des Moines. All of the children were home during the anniversary week. They are: George L. of Omaha; J. Neal of Nevada; Mrs. Edna Schreck of Des Moines; Dell G. of Detroit, Mich.; J. Stanley of Fort Des Moines; Mrs. Dorothy Duffy of Granger; Mrs. Evelyn Haffner of Sabula; Theodore H. of Madrid; Mrs. Francis Miller of Omaha and J. Bruce of Rolla, Missouri.
Mr. Clemmer was a 55 year old Mason, being a member of Janesville Lodge No. 55 A. F. and A. M. in which he was raised in June 1877.
