Conley Funeral Sunday Morning

Funeral services for Thomas K. Conley, 45, farmer of near McCallsburg, who met a tragic death in a grade crossing accident in a Chicago suburb, early Wednesday morning were held Sunday morning at the Bishop Funeral home in Nevada.

A large concourse of relatives and friends were gathered for the final rites, which were conducted by Rev. C. E. Lookingbill.

Three songs "The Lord is My Sheperd," "Some Time We'll Understand" and "No Night There," were sung by Mrs. F. E. Nail and Miss Catherine Craig, with Mrs. Schauper at the piano. The pallbearers were Tollef Thompson, George Shearer, Glen Boston, Garf Lounsberry, George Ellen and Paul Nighsonger.

Interment was in the Nevada cemetery.

The deceased had been a resident of Story county the most of the time for the past twenty years or more, having lived first near Nevada and later in the Fernald and McCallsburg neighborhoods.

Thomas Kirby Conley, son of John and Louise Conley, was born at Monticello, Kentucky May 8th, 1888, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Lulu Higginbotham February 15, 1910 and to this union 6 children were born, namely: Glen, Frank, Royce, Craig, Herbert and Ray who are all at home with their mother.

After his marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Conley moved to Iowa where they made their home until his death, except two years which were spent in Kentucky. His death occurred accidentally at a railroad crossing in Chicago, Illinois on June 15, 1932, age 44 years, 1 month and 7 days.

He leaves to mourn his sad departure his wife and 6 sons, a step-mother, Mrs. John Conley of Monticello, Kentucky; 7 sisters, Kittie Grier, Mary Willhight, Pella Hughes and Ermentine York, all of Monticello, Ky.; Pearl Daugherty of Stanford, Ky.; Mrs. Arthur Conley and Mrs. Robert Sloan, both of Nevada; 2 brothers, Charlie and Bethiam, Monticello, Ky., besides many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Conley united with the Christian church 14 years ago.
