Funeral Services for Mrs. Wick Monday Afternoon

Collins, Oct. 21--Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie F. Wick, widow of the late Curtis R. Wick was held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Church of Christ at Collins with the Rev. Chas. Neal in charge assisted by the Rev. John Robertson of Broadhead, Wisconsin. Mrs. Wick passed away Friday night at 9:20 after an illness which had extended over a period of years. Funeral music was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Kenneth Tomlinson, Mrs. George Holmes, Chas. Shearer and Tom Huntrods with Mrs. Hugh Fertig at the piano. The songs used were "The Old Rugged Cross," "The Upper Garden and "No Disappointments in Heaven." The flowers were arranged at the church and cemetery by Mrs. Ora Hanson and Mrs. O. N. Serbein.

Interment was in Evergreen cemetery by the side of her husband. The pallbearers being J. E. Hale, Warren Kitchell, Geo. Holmes, Clark Chambers, P. J. Weitrich, G. F. Holland.

The following brief history of the deceased was read by Rev. Neal. Hattie Frances Carver, a daughter of Hannah and Archibald Carver was born on July 15, 1867 near Orfordsville, Wisconsin, and passed away at her home in Collins Friday at 9:20 p. m. at the age of 69 years, 3 months, 1 day.

In 1884 she moved with other members of her family to Iowa, making their home first upon farm, but later moving to the town of Collins.

On Jan. 11, 1887 she was united in marriage to Charles E. Campbell and to this union three children were born, a son Earl and a daughter, Eva dying in infancy. Mr. Campbell also passed away Sept. 25, 1909.

She was again married to Curtis R. Wick in 1910 an for few years they made their home at Colfax, later returning the Collins and it was here that Mr. Wick died March 4, 1936.

She became member of the local Church of Christ when it was first organized and was an active member both here and at Colfax as long s her health permitted.

The surviving members of her family are a stepdaughter Mrs. O. H. Gearhart of Fernald, a stepson Wallace Wick of Hutchinson, Kansas, six grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Halfhead of Broadhead, Wisconsin and Mrs. Etta Patterson of Battle Lake, Minn. Also several nieces and nephews as well as a large circle of more distant relatives and friends.

Those from a distance attending the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. John Robertson, Broadhead, Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Wick, Hutchinson, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Max Kinney, Mt. Pleasant; Mr. and Mrs. Foster Wick, Kempton, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. John Snyder of Mason City; Harold Gearhart, Des Moines; Mildred Gearhart, Ottumwa; Mrs. J. O. Shearer and Junior, Waterloo; Mrs. Etta Patterson, Battle Lake, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dickinson and Mrs. Sherm Ulm of Maxwell and possibly others.
