Sudden Death of State Center Woman
Special to the Journal.
State Center, Feb 3--Funeral services for Mrs. George Wengert, 68, who died at her home here at an early hour Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 from St. John's Lutheran church, in charge of her pastor, Rev. William J. F. Zabell, following brief prayer service at the residence. Interment will be at Hillside.Mrs. Wenger, who had been in poor health for the last five years, following an operation for tumor, died suddenly. She had been suffering recently from heart and goiter trouble.
Dorothea Marie German [aka Garbelmann], daughter of the late August and Caroline German [aka Garbelmann], was born Feb. 6, 1864, at French Grove, five miles north and west of State Center. She married Mr. Wengert May 31, 1884, at French Grove. Mr. Wengert survives.
Of the ten children born to Mrs. and Mrs. Wengert, nine survive their mother. They are Eugene Wengert, Milwaukee; Mrs. J. H. Boeckenhauer, Des Plaines, Ill.; Clarence, Orval and Roland Wengert, Mrs. J. L. Richardson and Mrs. A. F. Lahr, State Center; Leon Wengert, Colo; and Mrs. Leroy Ramer, Melbourne. Four brothers and sisters, George German, State Center, and Mrs. Will Baker, Mrs. T. J. Wengert an Miss Carolyn German of Madelia, Minn., also survive.
Mrs. Wengert was confirmed in St. Jo-----'s Lutheran church, four miles south of State Center, of which she was a lifelong member.
