Mrs. Ed. Graves Died in California

Ames, Feb. 1--Mrs. Gertrude Graves, 68, widow of the late Ed H. Graves, former mayor of Ames, died at her home in Beverly Hills, Calif., and was buried on Friday, according to word reaching friends here. Mrs. Graves died Tuesday, following an extended illness. Her death was said to have been caused by cancer.

Mr. Graves died in Beverly Hills, November 2, 1930, less that two seeks after Mr. and Mrs. Graves moved from Ames to California because of Mr. Graves' ill health.

Mrs. Graves leaves two daughters Miss Genevieve Graves, who is ill in a hospital in California, Mrs. Ben H. Read, also residing in California, and one son, Norman of Omaha.

She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Salem Nourse of Seattle. Mrs. Nourse was with Mrs. Graves at the time of her death.

Mrs. Anna Graves of Ames is a sister of Mr. Graves.

Mrs. Graves was the daughter of Prof. W. H. Wynn, professor of history and languages at Iowa State college in the seventies. Mr. Graves was born on the Iowa State campus in the old farm residence now occupied by Dean C. F. Curtiss. His father, A. J. Graves, was farm superintendent at the college from 1864 until 1868.
