Funeral Services for Mrs. Fannie Lash
Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie Lash, 73, former Nevada woman, who had died at her home at Santa Ana, Calif., Sunday, were held Friday afternoon at the Nevada Methodist church, with Rev. Geo. A. Lawton in charge. Interment was in the Nevada cemetery by the side of the husband who had died in 1915.
The services were attended by a large group of relatives and old neighbors and friends.
Pallbearers were her nephew Arthur Applegate and his twin sons Marshall and Morris Applegate, a nephew Arthur Christy an his son Maurice and another nephew Horace Elliott of Waukee.
Frances Carol Bailey, daughter of Henry E. and Betsy Hammond Bailey, was born July 29, 1858, at the old Bailey homestead, on and one-half miles south of Nevada and departed this life, Jan. 24, 1932 at her home in Santa Ana, Cal., being 73 years of age.
She was married on Jan. 4, 1883 to Orrin Lash. To this union was born two children Holly Visel of California and a son, Bailey, who died in 1910 at the age of 7 years.
Mr. Lash passed away in 1909. In 1915 she with the daughter Holly, moved to California, where they have since made their home.
Mrs. Lash was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and taught the Woman's Bible class for years. She was also a member of the W. H. M. an W. F. M. S. of that church, the W. C. T. U. and the Pegasus club, as well as the Ladies Aid society of the church in Santa Ana. While living on the farm she was an active member and worker in the Evangelical church at Elwell in the county.
She was so widely known in this county and her friends are so numerous, that the life that she has lived among us, speaks more than words can express.
Aside from her friends she was beloved by her relatives, nieces and nephews. Her name, "Aunt Fan" was outstanding with them, her's being a very strong character.
Those left to mourn her departure are her daughter Mrs. Holly Visel and husband, Nelson Visel, of Balboa, California, and one sister Mrs. Amelia Dinsmore of Santa Ana.
Besides numerous other relatives including nieces and nephews and a host of friends in California and in Story county.
