From Nevada Representative February 23, 1898 (page 4)
Mrs. Sarah Turtle died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Feller, in Boone last Wednesday. After funeral services at Boone Saturday her remains were brought to Nevada for interment. Mrs. Turtle was born in Seven Valleys, York county, Pennsylvania, and was a little over 80 years of age at the time of her death. She was married in 1836 to Thomas Turtle and with him an her growing family located in Story county on what is now the Moore farm two miles north of town in 1855. Mr. Turtle died in 1857, and the family thereafter resided on the farm and in town until 1867, when they moved to Boone. As residents of Nevada and the county the family are kindly remembered by our older residents. Mrs. Turtle was a worthy woman and possessed that large measure of sturdy common sense which enabled her to rear her children to useful lives, and to be helpful to the community in which she lived. For twenty-eight years she had been a member of the Universalist church and at all times honored her profession. He pastor, Rev. Sophia Gibb, conducted her funeral services and with several other ladies, friends of the decease, accompanied the remains and the mourning household to Nevada. At the station they were met by old time acquaintances and the remains conveyed to the cemetery and reverently laid to rest by the buried dust of husband and son. For the kindly services rendered by Nevada friends Mr. and Mrs. Feller express themselves sincerely grateful.
