Last Rites Held For Lee Shickell

Funeral services for Lee Shickell, 81, were held from the Evangelical United Brethren church, Sunday afternoon at 2 p. m. with the Rev. Donald Gruber officiating.

Two songs "Lead Me Gently Home Father" and "Near to the Heart of God" were sung by Keith and Lowell Shickell, accompanied by Miss Beeula Settle at the organ.

The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Hazel Williams and Mrs. Jennie Christy. The casket bearers were David Grimes, Lowell Shickell, Murray Shickell, Keith Shickell, Fred Shickell and Billy Shickell.

Burial was in the family lot in the Iowa Center cemetery.

Obituary

Frederick Lee Shickell was born in Story county, April 21, 1876, a son of William and Margaret Shickell. He lived his entire life in Story county. His death occurred at the Story County Hospital Friday morning, May 31, 1957 where he had been a patient since the previous Saturday. He had been in failing health for about one year.

Mr. Shickell had been a member of the Nevada Evangelical church since March of 1928.

He was married on Sept. 20, 1900 to Mabel Corke who survives him. Also surviving are three sons, William, Marion and Lloyd, all of Nevada and one daughter, Leilia, Mrs. David Grimes of Fillmore, Ind.; seven grandchildren, David Grimes, Greencastle, Ind.; Keith Shickell of Minneapolis, Minn.; Fred L. Shickell, Le Mars; and Lowell, Bill, Murray and Nancy Shickell of Nevada. He also leaves one great grandson, Michael Grimes of Greencastle, Ind., and two brothers, Tilman of Collins and Sidney of Nevada.

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers, Willie, in infancy, and Claude in 1955, Roy, in 1956, and one grandson, Robert Lewis Shickell in 1956.

Clyde Ayers of Waterloo, Royal Spidel of LeMars, Mr. and Mrs. John Middlecoop of Packard, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Shickell, Mr. and Mr. Vern Noring and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thornton of Collins, and the following from Colo: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Blickensderfer and Glen, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Geisler, Mrs. Walter Bamford, Mrs. Bert Olson, Mrs. Anna Lounsberry, Tural White and Mr. and Mrs. Hubert White.
