Funeral Services for Late Thomas Grimsley

The funeral for Thomas Grimsley, 66, who died in Minnesota, Dec 7, was held at their home in Minnesota on Thursday, and here at McCallsburg on Friday, Dec. 10 at 2:00 p. m. from the Bethany Lutheran church, with Rev. H. N. Bakke in charge. Mrs. O. E. Ritland sang a solo, and Rev. Bakke sang a song in Norwegian, one of Mr. Grimsley's favorite hymns, with Mrs. John Helland at the piano. The pallbearers were Andrew Olson, Fred Jorstad, John Haugen, Chas. Christian, John Bergland and Martin Haukoos. The remains were interred in the Warren township cemetery.

Those attending from a distance were the members of the immediate family Mrs. Grimsley and children of Becker; Mrs. Lee Long, Clear Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Joh Lang and daughter, Madrid; Martin and Ervin Grimsley, Thompson; Mr. and Mrs. B. Grimsley, Randall; Marjorie Grimsley, Cambridge, and other relatives from Nevada and Roland.

Thomas Grimsley was born near Stavanger, Norway, May 5, 1871 and died at his home near Becker, Minn., Dec. 7, 1937, 66 years, 7 months and 2 days old. At the age of 18 he came to America, arriving at Huxley, Ia. A short time later he came to McCallsburg, where he resided till 1911, when he moved to Clear Lake and Becker, Minn., where he lived till he passed away.

Dec. 7, 1910 he was married to Laura Malmin. To this union 5 children were born, one dying in infancy. He is survived by four children: Myrtle (Mrs. Leo Long, Clear Lake, Minnesota); Leslie, Gerald and Leona at home. He also leaves two boys from a former marriage, Orville and Martin Grimsley, the latter of Thompson; and seven grandchildren, two daughters Mrs. Lizzie Faris and Mrs. Jennie Isenberg, preceded him in death, one brother in Norway and brother, Bert Grimsley, ------------, Iowa.
