THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, June 29, 2005.
David Paul Sexton, 36, of Red Wing, Minn., died suddenly at home Friday, June 24. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg with the Rev. Luther Thoresen of Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery in Fairville.
David Paul Saxton was born Jan. 10, 1969, the son of Paul and Teresa (Naig) Saxton, in Emmetsburg. He graduated from Emmetsburg High School, and following graduation, he attended the University of Northern Iowa. He received a degree in criminal justice with a minor in psychology and was employed by the Nevada Police Department in Nevada. He later accepted a detective position with the department. He attended mortuary science school in Kansas City and became a licensed funeral director in both Minnesota and Iowa. After serving his internship at Mahn Funeral Home in Red Wing, Minn., he accepted a position with it.
He is survived by his fiancée, Jamie Schrum of Nevada; his parents, Paul and Teresa; two brothers, Mark and his wife, Darca, and Joel and his wife, Somer, all of Emmetsburg; one nephew, Benjamin Paul; his grandmother, Florence Naig; as well as many relatives and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Torger Naig, Gilbert Saxton and Laurnetta Saxton.
Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.
