John Binder Dead; Funeral Tuesday Afternoon at Colo

Colo, Dec. 23--John Binder, a lifelong resident of Colo and vicinity, died at four o'clock at the University of Iowa hospital at Iowa City Saturday afternoon Dec. 21 following a lingering illness.

He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, two brothers, Chas. Binder of Colo, Frank Binder of Baraboo, Wis., a sister, Mrs. Mary Morgan of Scranton. Funeral services ill be held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church at Colo. A brief service will be held at the home at 1:30. Interment in the Colo cemetery.

John Binder, Native Son of Story County Buried at Colo

John Binder, a native son of Story county, died at the State University hospital at Iowa City death being due to heart complications. His illness dated back to about a year ago, lasting through the winter. In the spring, his condition became critical at Marshalltown and later a patient at the University hospital at Iowa City where his recovery was such that he was able to come home about the first of September. For about two months he enjoyed fairly good health but at the end of that time his condition again became alarming and he returned to Iowa City, where in spite of all that medical science and care could do he passed away Saturday evening Dec. 21, 1935.

He was born Sept. 14, 1882 on the farm that was his home at the time of his passing. He was the youngest child of Carl and Mary Binder, pioneers of Sherman township.

On August 28, 1926 he was united in marriage to Miss Hattie McCollom of Nevada, who with two brothers Frank Binder of Baraboo, Wis. and Charles Binder of Colo and one sister Mrs. Mary Morgan of Scranton and many other relatives and friends, are left to mourn his loss.

He was a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Colo. The funeral services were held from the M. E. church in Colo, Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 24, with his pastor Rev. Cochell in charge. The pall bearers were Omar --ar--, Robert McIntosh, Henry Hemping, Carl Davis, Fred Weuve Jr. and Reuben Hillamen.

The music was furnished by a male quartet consisting of Messrs. Bert Lambeth, C. B. Wilson, B--y Lounsberry and A. B. Perry. The flowers whish were many and beautiful were cared for by Mrs. Erma Hemping and Miss Mable Jones.

Relatives from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Frank Binder of Baraboo, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Morgan, son Lawrence and daughter Daisy of Scranton, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Muhm, Fred Muhm and Ralph Muhm all of Kanawha, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Porter of Winnebago, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Milo Thornton, Mrs. Jessie Parker and E. Vanjinkle of Des Moines and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Ritchart of New Virginia.
