Funeral Services for T. Larson Wednesday

McCallsburg, June 29--The funeral of Tom Larson was held Wednesday afternoon at the Bethany Lutheran church, following a prayer service at the home, and was in charge of his pastor, Rev. H. N. Bakke.

The pall bearers were friends of the deceased, B. M. Bergland, John Bergland, Andrew Olson, Fred Jarstad, H. O. Hanson and Obed Erickson.

The music was furnished by Mrs. B. M. Tuisland and Mrs. Ray Skartvedt, who sang two duet numbers "Have Thine Own Way" and "I Shall Know Him," accompanied at the piano by Mrs. John Helland.

The many beautiful floral offerings were cared for by Mrs. B. M. Bergland, Mrs. G. A. Mein, Mrs. Martin Hauskin and Mrs. Oscar Johnson.

The Sunshine Mission and Bethany Aid society gave $5.00 to missions in memory of Mr. Larson and seven families also gave money to missions in his memory instead of flowers. Rev. Bakke, during the service, paid special tribute to Mr. Larson for his faithfulness to his church and pastor. Burial was made in the family plot in the Warren township cemetery.

Tom Larson was born in Skudness, Norway, January 1, 1864 and died at the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown Monday morning of June 24, at the age of 71 years.

Mr. Larson, who has been in failing health for several months, was only confined to his home two weeks having carried the mail for the last time Saturday, June 15. His affliction was cancer with other complications.

He was taken to the Deaconess hospital on Saturday, where it was hoped an operation might relieve him but he failed too fast for that and death came soon after midnight of Sunday night.

Mr. Larson and Mrs. Gertie Baumgardner were married in 1892 and the wife, with three children, Earl of Farmington, Minn., Lloyd of St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Gladys William of Marshalltown survive him. One child preceded him in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Larson have made their home near and in McCallsburg with the exception of a few years spent in Wisconsin.

Mr. Larson has been engaged in various occupations and for some time he has been serving as mail carrier.

Mr. Larson was a friend of the children and will be greatly missed by them, as well as the older friends.

Among the relatives and friends in attendance at the funeral from out of town were Earl Larson of Farmington, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Larson of St. Paul, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. S. C. William, Marshalltown, Mrs. Leona Thompson, a niece of Mr. Larson and her son Willard of Sheridan, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Baumgardner and son Lyle, Mrs. Oscar Hall, Mrs. T. M. Dickens, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Hougan and Jeffrey Hougan of Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Schauper and Russell of Collins, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Schalper of Maxwell, Mrs. Aden Arrasmith and Mrs. Charles Alfred of Milford township.
