Howard J. Erickson, 76, of Cambridge, died Saturday, June 18, 2005 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Howard was born Oct. 12, 1928, at Cambridge, the son of John and Gunda (Lewis) Erickson. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Hanson Feb. 27, 1949, in Nevada. He served with the Army during the Korean Conflict. He farmed and also worked as the Research Coordinator for Farm Services at Iowa State University. He was a lifelong member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church of Cambridge. He was an avid gardener.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, of Cambridge; a daughter and son-in-law: Michele and Mark Miller of Norwalk; 2 grandchildren: Carrie Mulford and Katie Mulford; 2 great-grandchildren: Abbie and Noah Mulford; and 2 sisters: Marie Lee of Cambridge, and Ruth Ennor of Cedar Falls.

His parents and a brother: Irwin, preceded Howard in death.

Memorial services were held Tuesday at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cambridge. Private interment of his remains was held Wednesday at the Cambridge Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Nazareth Lutheran Church.

The Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory in Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
