THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, March 15, 1962, page 2, column 3. "JAY EDGAR WESTCOTT - Jay Edgar Westcott, son of Manly and Penelope Westcott, was born August 17th, 1882, near Maxwell, Iowa. He passed away March 7th, 1962 at Yuma, Arizona, after an illness of two months. Except for a few years in early childhood spent in Kansas, this vicinity and Des Moines was his home until 5 years ago when he went to Yuma to make his home with his daughter. He was a brick mason by trade. On June 5, 1905 at Nevada, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Mildred Grace Bell. To this union two daughters were born, (Iona) Mrs. Richard Partridge of Maxwell and (Magdalene), Mrs. G. H. Raschert of Yuma, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and an infant brother and sister. Surviving are the daughters; two grandchildren, Ward Partridge of Maxwell and Mrs. Thelma Nichols of Des Moines and eight great grandchildren; one step-brother, James Ward of Maxwell and step-sister, Mary Hurst of Alhambra, California. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, March 12, 1962 from the Cooper Funeral Home in Maxwell, with Rev. Max Hall officiating. "There is No Night There" and "In the Garden" were sung by Alice Gooden, accompanied by Madeline Summitt at the organ. Casket bearers were Virgil Swarm, Ernie Glasgow, Marion Patterson, Leo Jones, Richard Link, and C. H. Norton. Blanche Glasgow cared for the flowers. Interment was in the Peoria Cemetery." "CARD OF THANKS - We wish to take this means to express our sincere thanks to neighbors, friends and relatives for their expressions of sympathy and the beautiful floral offerings. Mrs. Magdalene Raschert. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Partridge. Mr. and Mrs. Ward Partridge and children. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Nichols and sons."
