Westcott, 72, a native of Collins community, passed away at the University hospital at Iowa City Wednesday morning of last week, following a major operation, developing into pneumonia.** Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ at Collins Friday afternoon." **Editorial note, typed as original newspaper article.

"SARAH OZMUN-WESTCOTT - Sarah Ozmun, daughter of Samuel and Jane Ozmun, was born at Peoria, Iowa, May 27, 1863. She grew to womanhood in the home community and at the age of twenty years married W. W. Westcott on September 4, 1883. They first made their home in the vicinity of Peoria, later for a short time in Missouri and then for about ten years in Nebraska. In 1899 they moved to Collins, Iowa, where they have made their home for the last thirty-five years, for twenty-seven years living in their home they together built in 1907. Last year with the help of their children, grand-children, relatives and friends they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, having walked faithfully and happily side by side for half a century. Six children came to bless this happy union, Mrs. Bertha Frisbee, of Collins; Samuel, of Council Bluffs; Carl and Harvey and Mrs. Ada Oswalt, of Collins. One daughter, Edith, died in infancy. In the prime of her young womanhood Mrs. Westcott became a Christian and for more than 50 years walked the pathway of life, guided by her Savior. For thirty-five years she took a leading part in the local church of Christ of which she was a faithful and devoted member. She found her greatest pleasure in life in working for her family, her church and her Christ. Mrs. Westcott was a Christian in the finest sense of the word. All who came to know her soon learned that she had been with Christ and learned of Him and they too were led to glorify her Father who is in heaven. For thirty-five years she taught her Women's Bible class in Sunday school, establishing a record equaled by few. The inner circle of those who are closest to her by ties of kinship is made up of the husband and children above mentioned, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild, two brothers, William Ozmun, of Independence, Iowa, and Phillip Ozmun, of Collins; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Evans, of Collins, and Miss Myra Ozmun, of Maxwell. The large circle of neighbors and friends cannot be numbered until on the other shore the books are opened and the words of the Master are heard, "Inasmuch as ye did it unto these ye did it unto me." For like her Master it can be truly said of her, she went about doing good. Funeral services were conducted in the Church of Christ of Collins, by Irving E. Wade, former pastor and for many years a close friend of the family. Mr. Wade was assisted in the service by Lloyd Patton. The body was laid tenderly to rest in the Collins cemetery. Those of us who knew Mrs. Westcott best believe that she has gone to hear her Master say, "Well done good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joys of thy Lord."
