Funeral Services for Rasmus Danielson

Special to the Journal.
McCallsburg, Dec. 3--Rasmus Danielson was born in Hjelmeland, Stavanger, Norway, Dec. 27, 1872, the son of Daniel and Anna Olehavn. He came to America in 1892.

January 12, 1914 he was united in marriage to Bertha Vallem and moved to a farm northeast of McCallsburg, Iowa, where he resided until his death. He passed away after a brief illness at his home on November 26, 1934, bring 61 years, 10 months and 29 days old.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, his daughter Donna, three brothers, Ole of De Kalb, Ill., Lauritz of Stavanger, Norway and Daniel of White Earth, N. D., two sisters, Mrs. John O. Johnson of Ormsby, Minn., and Mrs. Sam Quie of Milford, Iowa besides a host of relatives and friends.

The funeral took place Wednesday, Nov. 28. On account of bad roads the remains were brought to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ellwood Ose, where a brief service was conducted, consisting of scripture reading and prayer by Rev. H. N. Bakke and singing by Maxine Vallem. At two o'clock we met at the church. A mixed quartette consisting of Mesdames B. Imsland and O. E. Ritland and Mr. Otis Helland and Peter Egenes, with Mrs. Ray Skartvedt at the piano sang "Does Jesus Care" and "Asleep in Jesus."

The pall bearers were: Clarence Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Danford Danielson, Osmund L. Ose, Oscar Ose and Ellwood Ose. The remains were interred in the Warren township cemetery near McCallsburg. A large audience of relatives and friends from near and far, more that filled the church.

Mr. Danielson was taken to the hospital in Des Moines four weeks ago and underwent an operation for hernia and recovered nicely from that and later a cancer of the stomach developed which caused his death.

Out of town relatives in attendance at the funeral were Mrs. O. J. Vallem and Miss Birddla Vallem of Northfield, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. John O. Johnson and Clarence Johnson of Ormsby, Minn., Daniel Johnson, Odin, Minn., Mrs. Sans Quie of Milford, Ole Danielson, DeKalk, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Iver Vallem, Ellsworth, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Vallem, Garden City, Maxine, Kenneth and Gerald Vallem of Des Moines.
