MRS. CLARK FRENCH DIED LATE MONDAY

FUNERAL FOR PIONEER RICHLAND TOWNSHIP WOMAN ON WEDNESDAY

Mrs. Clark French, 74, died at 9:20 Tuesday evening at her home in the southeast corner of Richland township after an invalidism of many months, during which time she had suffered a number of strokes of apoplexy.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at the Morfoot Funeral home in Nevada, after which interment will be in the Nevada cemetery. Dr. J. O. Simon will be in charge.

Death occurred on the old homestead where she had spent practically all of her life since coming to Story county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Earl, as a child of about six years of age.

She was born, Elva, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Earl at Rochelle, Illinois, April 11, 1860 and came to Story county with her parents and only brother, Clarence Earl, in 1866.

She was married to Clark French of the same neighborhood, 56 years ago and they had lived on the old Earl homestead which had been vacated when the parents moved to Nevada, since a few months after their marriage.

The parents died many years ago and the only brother, Clarence Earl, died just 17 years to the day, before her passing.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband who is now about 80 years of age; four sons and three daughters. The surviving children are Guy French of Nevada, Hugh French of Redstone, Mont., Mrs. Lucy Harrison, Maxwell, Lee French of near Fernald, Earl French of Wycene, Wis., Mrs. Vernie Ward of near Colo and Mabel Stookey of Des Moines.

Besides these she leaves several grand children and great grandchildren and a wide circle of old time friends who will mourn her passing.

She was a woman essentially of the home and there her life was spent and her interests largely centered. She was a true and devoted wife and mother and woman of integrity and industry.
