Funeral Services for Jesse E. Jones
Special to the Journal.
Cambridge, Nov. 21--Funeral services were held at the Methodist church here Monday afternoon for Jesse E. Jones, 84, on of the pioneers of the community who died at his home in the south edge of Cambridge Saturday morning at 11:00. The services were in charge of his former pastor, Rev. Findley, now of Des Moines, and interment was in the Center Grove cemetery.Mr. Jones leaves his aged wife, who is over 89 years of age, one daughter Mrs. Ed Losee of Moline, Ill., one grand daughter, a great grand daughter; a brother and two sisters. The brother and sisters are living at Wamego, Kansas, are all advanced in age and were unable to be here for the funeral.

Funeral Services for Cambridge Pioneer

Cambridge, Nov. 26--Funeral services were held Monday at 11 o'clock in the M. E. church for J. E. Jones, one of Cambridge's oldest and most respected citizens of the community. Rev. Findley of Prairie City officiated assisted by Rev. Hohanshelt resident pastor. Special music, Dr. D. G. Houser, W. K. Weiser, Mrs. Alma Nelson, Miss Doris Hubbard, Rev. J. Wesley Peterson. One of each in four generations are left to mourn his departure. His aged wife, a daughter Mrs. Ed Losee of Moline, Ill., a granddaughter Mrs. Harold Dawson of Moline, a great grandson Robert Rodney Dawson, Moline, all of whom were at the bedside during his last illness. February would have marked sixty years of married life. His one regret of departure was the leaving of his aged and ailing companion.Those in attendance from a distance at the J. E. Jones funeral were Mrs. Anna Hefley, Mrs. McKee, Sylvia Abraham, Harry Kies, Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Pulis, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Kirk, Orlando, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kirk, Los Angles, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Hainline, Polk City, H. W. Dana, Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cooper, Colo; Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Kirk, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Hoffman and probably many others.
Pall bearers were six nephews*, Frank Kirk of Nevada, Ed Kirk of Orland, Calif., J. P. Warren of Carroll, Bert Kirk of Maxwell, Raymond Warren of Nevada, Ora Groseclose of Cambridge.
*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: The nephews mentioned as pall bearers were nephews of Jeptha Jones' wife, Esther Melvina Warren, daughter of John Wesley Warren and Ellen Groseclose.
