Prominent Colo Man Suicided By Hanging Today

Special to the Journal.
Colo, Nov. 24--James O'Donnell, 82, pioneer resident of this community suicided today by hanging himself in the barn of his sister Mrs. James McCoy.

The body was found by Jimmie Wilson, a small grandson of Mrs. McCoy, when he entered the barn shortly after 10:00 this morning.

Mr. O'Donnell had been in apparently his usual health and there is no reason or motive advanced for his rash act.

He leaves besides his son Roy F. O'Donnell of Colo; a number of grandchildren, his daughter-in-law Mrs. Frances O'Donnell who had lived in the home with him since the death of her husband, the late Walter O'Donnell; and two sisters, Mrs. James McCoy of Colo and Mrs. Anna Dolan of Chicago.

The news of the finding of the lifeless body of Mr. O'Donnell suspended by a rope from the rafters of the barn in which he had kept his motor car, caused a distinct shock in the community in which he had lived nearly his entire life.
