PIONEER JASPER WOMAN IS DEAD

MRS. MARY A. SKINNER DIED THURSDAY AT HER HOME NEAR MINGO

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary A. Skinner, 79, who died at her home near Mingo Thursday, will be held at the Ashton chapel Saturday afternoon at 2:00 with Rev. C. E. Lookingbill of Nevada in charge.

Mrs. Skinner who had been a resident of Jasper county during her entire life, was the mother of Mrs. Lafe Eubank and A. L. Skinner of near Nevada and was known to many Story county people, especially in the Collins neighborhood.

Mary Ann Edwards was born on March 29, 1855 near Greencastle, a daughter of Milton and Anne Edwards. She was the last to be called in death from a family of ten children. She was one of the oldest surviving residents of Jasper county.

She was united in marriage to Herbert K. Skinner, March 16, 1876. He passed away Nov. 14, 1914. To this union eight children were born, five of whom are living, namely Elsie and Georgie who died in infancy, Charles of Mingo, Bertha Bortz of Collins, Clara Tiffany of Collins, Arthur of Nevada, Lena Eubank of Nevada and Howard who died in infancy.

She also was a true mother to her husband's two motherless children, Walter of Maxwell and Gertrude Boyd, deceased.

She leaves 22 grand children and eight great grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her loss.

She professed the Christian faith in young womanhood and remained a faithful follower all through life.

She belonged to the "Three Quarter Century Club" of Jasper county.
