Funeral of Mr. Louks at Cambridge Friday

Funeral services for J. A. Louks, 79, Cambridge man, who died at his home there early Tuesday, were held Friday afternoon at the United Brethren church at Cambridge with Rev. C. E. Lookingbill of Nevada, assisted by Rev. C. W. Hohanshelt of Cambridge, in charge. Interment was in the Cambridge cemetery.

James Allen Louks son of Nelson and Nancy Louks, was born July 16, 1885 in Clinton county, Indiana and passed away at his home in Cambridge, Iowa November 19, 1934, having reached the age of 79 years, 3 month and 27 days. On February 9, 1876 Mr. Louks was married to Rachel Ann Christy and journeyed together in this life for a period of 58 years, 9 month and 10 days. The resided in Indiana until 1908 when they moved to Cambridge, Iowa where they lived at the time of his death.

To this union, ten children were born. Two passed away in infancy. Those surviving are Mrs. Edith Jennett of Hoopeston, Ill., Frank of Blue Earth, Minn., Harry of Nevada, Mrs. Ethel Denton of Maxwell, Ovid of Huxley, Mrs. Sylvia Elliott of Cambridge, and Chester and Marshal of Miles City, Montana. These children were all at the services except Marshal. All were present when death came except Marshal and Chester.

The friendship of Mr. Louks will be forever cherished by those who knew him. Although in poor health for several years, his cheerfulness and friendliness remained unchanged.

Besides his faithful wife and children, he leaves to mourn his absence, three sisters, three brothers, 28 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren besides several nieces and nephews and many friends. Mr. Louks was an honest man, a good neighbor, a sincere friend and devoted to his family.
