Final Rites Held for Mrs. Chas. Smay

Colo, Nov. 24--Mrs. Emma Smay was born in Franklin county, Pennsylvania on September 30, 1873 and departed this life at her home in Ankeny, Iowa, on Sunday, November 11, 1934, aged 61 years.

She was the daughter of Leonard and Kathryn Troutner. With her parents and brothers and sisters she came to Colo in 1877. They located on a farm near here and there the family grew to manhood and womanhood.

Mrs. Smay was married to Charles Smay of Colo on February 20, 1901. Following their marriage they made their home north of Colo for many years, Mr. Smay being engaged in farming.

Their home was blessed by the coming of a daughter, Gladys, who is the only surviving child. Six years ago they moved to Ankeny, where they have since resided. During her residence near Colo, Mrs. Smay was active in the work of the Johnson Grove church. She is survived by her husband, Charles Smay, her daughter, Mrs. Gladys Moore of Des Moines, two grandchildren, Norma Jean and Robert Moore, one sister, Mrs. Ida Troutner and four brothers, George, Paul, Fred and Andrew Troutner of Colo.
