BELOVED PIONEER WOMAN IS DEAD

MRS. ANNA THOMPSON, 88, DIED AT HOME IN ROLAND TODAY

Special to the Journal.
Roland, Nov. 26--Mrs. Anna Thompson, long time resident of this community, where she was one of the most beloved women, died at 10:30 a. m. today, in the eighty-eighth year of her life.

Mrs. Thompson was the widow of Torris Thompson, whom she married in Norway, Europe and who died 21 years ago.

She was born in Gronstad, Norway, August 20, 1846 and came to America with her husband in June 1871. They settled in Howard township south of Roland where they lived about 40 years ago when they moved into Roland and the husband and sons engaged in business.

Shortly after moved to town they built one of what was then the finest homes in Roland, it being located across from Salem church on South Main street.

Five sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Thompson and three of them survive.

The youngest, Oscar T. Thompson died about 12 years ago and the eldest Tollif Thompson, died 4 years ago. The surviving sons are John E. Thompson, Edw. K. Thompson and Osmund Thompson, all of Roland. She also leaves 5 grandchildren.

Death was due to complications incident to old age.

Funeral services will be held at Salem church of which she was one of the staunch and long active members.
