SUDDEN DEATH OF ZEARING BOY

HOWARD MOORE PASSED AWAY AT EAST ST. LOUIS ON SATURDAY

Special to the Journal.
Zearing, Aug. 20--The community was shocked late Saturday afternoon when a message was received here announcing the sudden death at East St. Louis, of Howard J. Moore, 32, native son of this community.

But Friday the word had been received by Etna F. Moore, Zearing pioneer, of the serious illness of the son and the father, with the sister Mrs. Louis Lutz and husband and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wolford and family left at once for his bedside, reaching there before the passing of the son and brother.

The funeral party arrived in Zearing today and services will be held Tuesday afternoon at the Moore home in Zearing, after which burial will be in the family lot in the Zearing cemetery.

Howard J. Moore was born on a farm north of Zearing, November 16, 1891 and there he grew to manhood.

After graduating from the Zearing high school he attended Drake University, where he was affiliated wit the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

After graduating from the university in 1929 he took a position with the John Morrell Packing company of Ottumwa, living for some time at Iowa City. Later he was transferred to East St. Louis but recently had made arrangements to move to Belleville, Ill.

He was united in marriage August 24, 1924 to Miss Marie Grimm of this community, who with the two sons Keith and Allan, survives him.

He also leaves his father Etna F. Moore, sisters Mrs. Elsie Bailey and Mrs. Nellie Manning and Mrs. Pearl Lutz of Zearing and Mrs. Iva Rosen of Marshalltown and brothers Lee Moore of Zearing, Lester Moore of Winnebago, Minn., and Leonard Moore of Bedford, Iowa.

The mother died January 12 of this year and one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
