Geo. Alonzo Myers Died at Farm Home

Kelley, Aug. 8--George Alonzo Myers, 71, and resident on a farm six miles southeast of Ames, died at his home at 11 a.m. Sunday, August 5, following an attack of pneumonia which lasted about ten days although he had been in poor health for several years.

Mr. Myers was born in Elizabethtown, Ind., March 11, 1863, and moved to Springhill, Warren county, Iowa when a lad of eight years. He was married to Hannah Wills and then moved to Story county near where he has resided until his death.

To this union ten children were born five having preceded him in death. Those surviving five who were present at his death are his wife, four sons Bernice and Virgil at home, Wilford near Kelley and Clifford of near Huxley, two daughters Mrs. Florence Tesdahl [should be Tesdall] of Huxley an Mrs. Opal Jennings of Luther. There are also 24 grandchildren. Other relatives are a sister Mrs. Auldie Allen of Laurens, three brothers, Charlie of Oklahoma, Lafe of Colo and Henry of Des Moines.

He was a member of the Walnut Grove Methodist church. Funeral services were held from the Cambridge M. E. church with burial in the Walnut Grove cemetery.
