Funeral Services for Arthur Brown
Special to the Journal.
Slater, April 7--Arthur Brown, age 34, died suddenly, Saturday at the hospital at Mount Pleasant. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Martin Brown home at 1:30 and at the Bethlehem church at 2 o'clock. The services were in charge of Rev. Edward Rorem, who spoke in the Norwegian language. He was assisted by Rev. Edward Duea of Dows, who spoke in the English language. Mrs. Oley Houge and Miss Ruby Weeks, had charge of the beautiful floral offerings.Rev. Duea sang a Norwegian song, "Jeg Er Fremmed," Miss Rught Halverson sang "Save By Grace." A duet "The Old Rugged Cross," was sung by Mrs. M. S. Heggen and Mrs. A. L. Peterson.
The pall bearers were Thomas Brown, Truman Brown, Kermit Granseth, Melvin Brown, Harry Sheldahl and Jasper Brown.
Thomas Arthur Brown was born July 25th, 1899 and died March 31, 1934 at the age of 34 years, 8 months and 6 days. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
He made his home with his parents, three brothers, Ossie, Ed and Milford Brown, and four sisters, Mrs. A. J. Jorgenson and Mrs. C. O. Neslund of Des Moines, Mrs. H. C. Granseth and Miss Marie Brown of Slater, besides a host of relatives and friends.
