Mrs. Ella Jane McArthur-King, daughter of John and Jane McArthur, was born in Illinois Feb. 6, 1858 and passed from this life at the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown March 16, 1940, at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 10 days.
"At the age of 12 she moved with her parents, to Colo where she lived until time of her death.
"September 7, 1887, she was united in marriage to C. C. King at Zearing. To this union two sons were born, Don M. and Ross.
"As a young girl she joined the Evangelical church in Colo. During her active years she was a faithful worker in the church and won the love and respect of all who knew her.
"Having had an attack of gall stones which had reached a serious condition, she was taken to the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown, where she submitted to an operation wit the hope that it might prolong her life or at least ease her suffering. She did not regain consciousness after the operation, but slipped away peacefully into the great beyond.
"She was preceded in death by one son, Don, who passed away at the age of 8 years and by her husband who died about 7 weeks ago.
"Those who survived are: one son, Ross; three grandchildren: Ruth King of Marshalltown, Clifton King of Des Moines and Arlene of Colo; one great grandchild, Karen Rose King of Des Moines; one sister, Kate Orr of Wessington Springs, S. D., and several nieces and nephews.
"A host of friends join in extending sympathy in this time of deep sorrow."
