Mrs. Sevold Died After Brief Illness

Slater, Jan. 4--Mrs. Leslie Sevold*, 83, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Lande, here, December 29. Brief funeral services were held at the home Saturday at 12 o'clock, in charge of her pastor, Rev. Paulsrud of Randall, after which the body was taken to Story City where funeral services were held at the Lutheran church. Interment was made in the cemetery at Randall.

Mrs. Seselie Sevold was born in 1845 in Norway. She came to America with her husband in 1873, being married the same year before leaving Norway. She is survived by five children, Mrs. Bertha Lande of Slater, Mrs. Hannah Hanson of Hubbard, Mrs. Julia Christenson of Rake, Ill., Ole Sevold and Ed Sevold of Story City; also eighteen grand children and 5 great grand children. Mrs. Sevold had made her home at Randall and Story City for a number of years. Several months ago she came down to visit her daughter, Mrs. Lande. She died after an illness of two days, at the age of 83 years.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: The death certificate of Cecelia Gurine Sevold gives no mother's name and her father's name as Hans Meling. On the 1925 census it states her parents were Hans Nelson and Boletta Johanason.

This submitter has submitted Cecelia with the maiden name Meling because in the 1925 census "Seselia Sevold" is enumerated living with her son, Ole J. Sevold. Ole, Cecelia's son, states his parents were Lars O. Sevold and "Seselia Meling."

She married Lars O. Sevold, not Leslie Sevold as stated.
