RITES HELD FOR ANNA WITMER

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Witmer were conducted from the Collins Methodist church, Wednesday, August 12, at 2:00 p. m., with the Rev. Louis H. Joslin of North English officiating assisted by the Rev. Robert P. Robinson.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Kenneth Tomlinson, soloist, with Mrs. C. R. Stone accompanist.

Caring for the many beautiful flowers were: Ora Hanson, Mercie Wear and Calla Wood.

The casket bearers were Ralph Carver, Till Carver, John T. Kimberley, Clarence Morrison, and Harlan Witmer, nephews of the deceased.

Interment was in the Collins Evergreen cemetery.

Obituary

Anna Mary Kendig was born in Sterling, Illinois, October 30, 1870. At the age of two her parents moved to Greencastle, Iowa. She received her elementary education in the Jasper County rural schools and attended Normal Institute at Newton. She taught in the rural schools of Jasper County until her marriage to John R. Witmer in 1899. They farmed three miles south of Collins until 1916, when they moved into Collins.

Mr. and Mrs. Witmer were parents of three daughters: Mrs. Stanley Smith, Minneapolis; Mrs. Russell Hasse, Indianapolis, and Mrs. Glen Templeman, Robinson, Illinois.

There are four grand daughters: Jean and Wileen Haase,, Linda, and Pamela Templeman and one grandson, Edward Haase, who is in the Navy and serving in the Mediterranean area.

Three brothers and a sister preceded Mrs. Witmer in death. The only surviving members of her father's family is a brother, Aldus Kendig, of Spokane, Washington.

Mrs. Witmer took an active part in educational, fraternal and religious affairs of the community. She was a life long member of the Methodist church, and taught the Women's Bible Class for more than 40 years.
