John Swart Dies, Funeral Services Held

Funeral services were held for John Swart on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Collins Methodist Church.

Rev. Robert P. Robinson was in charge of the services.

Mrs. Curti Marsh of Kellogg sang "A Stranger in Galilee" and "Face to Face." She was accompanied by Mrs. C. R. Stone.

Mrs. Henry Dodd, Mrs. Glenn Pointer, Mildred Brouhard and Carolyn Brouhard were in charge of the flowers.

Casket bearers were: Glenn Pointer, Orville Smith, William Stoneberg, Henry Dodd, Keith Meyers and Duane Magg.

Interment was in the Collins Evergreen Cemetery.

John W. Swart, the son of Thomas A. and Mary B. Swart was born in Cedar county on Sept. 3, 1868 and died at his home in Collins on Tuesday afternoon May 24, 1955 a the age of 86 years.

Swart came with his parents to Boone County at the age of five months and lived there until he was 19 years old, when the family moved to Story County.

He retired from farming in 1937 and since that time has made his home in Collins.

Swart was preceded in dath by his parents, three brothers, Grant, Miles and Arthur; and five sisters Jane, Hattie, Ann, Edna and Maude.

He is survived by one foster brother, Wayne Sargent of Maxwell, one niece and three nephews.
