Funeral Services For Otis Lura

Funeral services for Otis Lura at McCallsburg were held at the Erickson funeral home in Roland Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Holen in charge. Interment was in the McCallsburg cemetery.

Chester Pearson of Radcliffe sang two numbers "God Will Take Care of You" and "He Leads the Way." Mrs. Archibald Erickson accompanied him on the piano.

Pall bearers were nephews of the decease, Gerald Vallem, Orval Vallem, Gordon Lura, Carroll Lura, Gerhardt Lura and Clifford Lura.

Many beautiful floral offerings, gifts to missions, and to the Bethany building fund were given in memory of the deceased.

All the seven living brothers and sisters were present at the services. The oldest sister, Mrs. Milton Hanson, 77 years old, flew down from Clarkfield, Minnesota with a son at the controls. Many other relatives and friends attended from thie vicinity and from a distance.

Otis Lura, the son of Knut and Berjetta Lura, was born November 19, 1896 and died July 23, 1951 at the age of 54 years and 8 months. His death was caused by gastric ulcer hemorrhage. He was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran church in Hardin county by Rev. Sandven.

He was married to Mildred Olson. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Marcia Bryant and two grandchildren of Fairbanks, Alaska, who were unable to be present at the funeral.

He is also survived by four brothers: Lewis Lura of McCallsburg, Peter Lura of Roland, Carl Lura of Zearing, Arthur Lura of Marshalltown, and three sisters, Mrs. Milton Hanson, Clarkfield, Minn., Mrs. Ole Nessa of Lake Mills, Iowa, Mrs. George Vallem of Zearing, and many nieces and nephews to mourn his death.

He spent most of his life around McCallsburg and the last several years at the Story County Home.
