Last Rites Held For Mrs. L. Evans

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Leonard Evans, 75, were conducted from the Collins Church of Christ on Tuesday, April 14, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Derrold Hoffman.

Mrs. Evans died early Sunday morning at the Story County hospital in Nevada where she was taken last Thursday.

Music consisted of two vocal solos, "Death is Only a Dream," & "Beautiful Garden of Prayer," by Mrs. K. W. Tomlinson with Mrs. Fred Mead as pianist. The beautiful flowers were cared for by Mrs. Ora Hanson and Mrs. O. N. Serbein.

Casket bearers were: Earl Dodd, Henry Dodd, Andrew Johnston, Myrl Brown, Laurence Dodd and Earl Robinson.

Interment was in the Collins Evergreen cemetery.

Obituary

Ordema Jean Dodd, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Dodd, was born south of Collins, June 24, 1877, and passed away April 12, 1953, at the Story County hospital, Nevada, Iowa, at the age of 75 years, nine months and 18 days.

She had been in poor health the past two years.

She was united in marriage April 1, 1896, to Leonard C. Evans and to this union were born seven children, two of whom preceded her in death. Frank in 1910 and Charles in 1918. Mr. Evans passed away July 10, 1951.

The surviving children are a daughter, Mrs. Roland Long and four sons, Paul, Wayne and Howard of Collins and Theodore of Waterloo. Left to mourn her passing are 15 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; three brothers, Horace, Ed and Cleve all of Des Moines, Iowa, many other relatives and friends.

Until three years ago when they moved to Collins, Mr. and Mrs. Evans had lived south east of Collins, having spent 54 years on the same farm. At an early age, Mrs. Evans became a member of the Church of Christ in Collins. Her chief interest in life was her home and family, and many more will miss her loving care.
