Obituary

Anna Elizabeth Grimm Abbott, the daughter of James F. and Anna Grimm, was born March 26, 1867, at Davenport, Iowa.

On March 15, 1900, she was united in marriage to Andrew J. Abbott. They lived in Louisa county until 1905 at which time they moved to a farm southeast of Zearing. In 1917 they retired from the farm and moved to Zearing where they spent the remainder of their married life.

Mr. Abbott passed away on December 23, 1950, following an extended illness at an age slightly over a86 years. Mr. and Mrs. Abbott had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in March of that year.

Mrs. Abbott departed this life as she slept in the early hours of the morning on February 16, 1953, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Earl (Emma) Sparrow, with whom she lived and by whom she was cared for during the past almost two years. She would have been 86 in March 26.

The family and acquaintances of Mrs. Abbott will long remember her as a faithful and devoted wife and mother, always diffusing a radiant Christian testimony which gave evidence of a true spiritual life, and her course throughout has been in consistency with that profession.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Earl Sparrow, her one granddaughter, Mrs. Carl Thompson, four great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Although we sorrow in her passing, we sorrow not as "Others who have no hope," for death to the believer in Christ is not like the evening star sinking into the darkness, but like the morning star lost in the brightness of the day.
