Funeral Services For John S. Williams, May 3 of Story City who passed away May 1, 1951 were held Thursday afternoon, May 3, in the Larson-Peterson Funeral home in Story City, with the Rev. S. T. Nelson in charge of the services. Mrs. Robert Kenny provided special music, singing "Rock of Ages" and "The Lord's Prayer" with Mrs. Alfred Jacobson as accompanist.

Pall bearers were Herschel Williams, Sheldon Williams, Marlow Williams of Boone, Jim Jackson, Birtle Jackson of Jewell, and Arnie Jackson of Randall. Interment was mad in the Lawn Hill cemetery at Stanhope.

John S. Williams, the son of William and Cecelia Tvedt Williams, was born Feb. 24, 1865 in La Salle county, Ill.

On March 14, 1888 he was united in marriage to Anna Jackson, who preceded her husband in death by 12 days.

Six children were born to this union, two of whom preceded the parents in death. John was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.

John was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in LaSalle county, Ill. While at Paton, Ia., he joined with the Methodist church. He served for many years as Sunday school superintendent and member of the official board.

Mr. and Mrs. Williams came to Iowa in 1890 and settled on a farm near Stanhope, Ia. After leaving the farm he became a grain dealer at Stanhope and at Paton in which business he continued until his retirement. For some years the family lived in Indianola.

In 1934 John and his wife moved to Story City, which has since been their home. In Story City they joined the St. Petri Lutheran church where they attended faithfully until age and health limited their abilities. John served as treasurer an a member of the church council in St. Petri for four years, from 1941 through 1944.

Mr. Williams is survived by two sons and two daugters, S. W. Williams of Charles City, Dr. L. M. Williams of Moravia, Mrs. N. M. Thurow of Green Castle, Ind., and Mrs. A. A. Kurtz of Knoxville, two sisters, Mrs. O. L. Swedlund and Miss Minnie Williams of Stratford, Ia.; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, as well as other relative and friends.

The deceased had reached the age of 86 years, two months and six days at the time of his death.
