Obituary

Jesse Edwin Carver, the son of Ed and Clara Carver was born on May 15, 1895 on the Carver homestead south of Collins, and passed away at the Iowa Methodist hospital, Des Moines, Ia., on June 18, 1951 after an illness of several weeks at the age of 56 years, one month and three days.

On January 17, 1917 he was united in marriage at Des Moines to Ruby Rumbaugh. To this union was born one son, Ralph E. of Collins, who, with the stricken widow survives him. All of his life was spent near Collins, except the last six years, during which time Mr. and Mrs. Carver maintained their residence in Des Moines.

Jesse Carver was a successful farmer, an accomodating neighbor, a wise and unselfish father, and an affectionate and devoted husband. His life was largely spent in the interest of others and in care of those he loved. During his last illness most of his thoughts concerned themselves with the welfare and comfort of his dear ones. So unselfish was the pattern of his life, that he passed away without a word of complaint. It is the universal opinion of everyone who knew him that Jesse Carver was a good citizen and his passing will constitute a distinct loss to the community in which he live. Besides the wife and son mentioned above there also remains to mourn his death, the son's wife, Esther, and their three children, Karen, Bennie and Eddie; also two brothers, Harland of Collins and Tilghmann of Maxwell, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
