Rites Tuesday For Mrs. Julia Johnson

Funeral services for Mrs. Julia H. Johnson were held in Story City Tuesday afternoon, April 17, from the Larson-Peterson Funeral home at 1:30 and from the Immanuel Lutheran church at 2 o'clock. The Rev. A. O. Skibsrud officiated.

Miss Louise Olson, organist, accompanied Lillian and Olive Alsager in a duet, "Abide With Me", and also Pastor Skibsrud as he sang "Den Store Hvide Flok."

The Rev. Peder Buland of Cambridge, former pastor of Mrs. Johnson, gave a short talk. Interment was in the Roland cemetery. Casket bearers were Raymond Henderson, John Burkhart, Jr., Glen Groomes, Charles Johnson, Ronald Jordan and Harvey Jordan.

The following obituary was read:

Julia H. Johnson, daughter of Iver and Boletta Iverson of Bergen, Norway, was born March 20, 1862, and died on April 12, 1951 at the home of her daughter, Bessie, Mrs. Lincoln Henderson of Minneapolis. She was 89 years and 22 days old.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Bergen Lutheran church in Norway. At the age of 20, in May, 1882, she came to Roland where she met and married to Hans O. Johnson on Nov. 30, 1882. To this union 12 children were born. Five preceded her in death, three dying in infancy and a son Sam and a daughter Olive Shover, six grandchildren also preceded her.

Survivors

Surviving are her children, John of Cedar Rapids, Georgia (Mrs. George Jordan) of Ames, Ida, (Mrs. D. V. Jordan) of Nevada; Mattie (Mrs. R. B. Sandwick) of Venice, Calif.; Bessie (Mrs. Lincoln Henderson) of Minneapolis and Herman of Newhall, Calif.

Mrs. Johnson's married life was spent mostly on the farm south of Ames, where she was a member of the Cambridge Lutheran church. Her pastors were Rev. Sheveland and Rev. Buland.

In 1907 they retired and moved to Story City, where she was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran church with Rev. T. T. Heimarck as pastor. In 1947 she sold her home and spent her remaining years with her children.
