Services Held Sunday In Colo Church For Mrs. Mayme Morgan

Funeral services were conducted from the Colo Methodist church on Sunday, Feb. 11, at 2:30 for Mrs. Mayme Binder Morgan. Mrs. Morgan died Friday, Feb. 9, at the State Center hospital.

The Rev. John F. Rex had charge of the service. Interment was in the Colo cemetery.

Casket bearers were Ed Smith, Roy Brouhard, Arthur Clatt, Murray Wallace, Porter King and Harry Maier. Music was furnished by Mrs. Anna Lounsberry, Mrs. Isabel Bamford, Mark Wilson and Paul Henry. Mrs. Mark Milson presided at the piano. Mrs. Roy Brouhard and Mrs. Jewell Olson and Mrs. Helen Robinson cared for the flowers.

Obituary

Mrs. Mayme R. Morgan was born on the farm at Fairbury, Ill., Jan. 11, 1876. She was the daughter of Thomas E. and Ruth Cressie Shaw.

She attended country school and also Normal university at Normal, Ill., where she made her home with her cousin, Mrs. William Johnson. She then taught country school for several years.

She came to Iowa and taught sixth grade at Colo school until her marriage to Charles Binder on January 11, 1904 at Normal, Ill.

To this union was born one child, Charles, Jr., who died in infancy. They farmed near Colo for a number of years built a home in Colo, and then moved to several places in Wisconsin developing farm land.

While at Baraboo, Wis., they took two sisters, ages seven and nine, from the Baby Fold at Normal, Ill., one of whom is now Mrs. Louise Jones of Colo, and the other Mrs. Helen Hadley of Nevada.

They returned to Colo in 1924

Moved on a Farm

They moved to their farm northeast of Colo in the spring of 1937, remaining there until the death of her husband, Charles, in 1945. At this time she bought a home and moved to Colo, living alone until her marriage to William Morgan April 18, 1950.

About four months ago she became very ill, remaining at home for weeks before entering the Woods hospital at State Center, there remaining until her death at 4 a. m. on February 9, 1951.

One sister, Sarah Bradshaw, of Aurora, Ill., preceded her in death last September.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, William Morgan; two daughters, Louise Jones and Helen Hadley three grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Fanny Decker of Rinard; one brother, Aaron Shaw of Anchor, Ill., with a number nieces and nephews, and a host of loving friends.

She joined the Methodist church at the age of 15 and remained a faithful active member all her life.

Relatives from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Doward Terpestra Reasnor; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Morgan, Grand Junction; Mr. and Mrs. Will Thompson, Mrs. Ida Talbott and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bales and granddaughter, Nevada; Mrs. Fanny Decker and son Clarence, and Mrs. Nadine Cathcart, Rinard; Aaron Shaw, Anchor, Ill.; Ruth Bradshaw, Aurora, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Waffle, Marion; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gruis and two sons and Mr. and Mrs. Milo Thornton, Des Moines; Mrs. Belle Austin, Nebraska City, Neb.; Mrs. Arthur Porter, Winnebago, Minn.; Mrs. Ollie Clatt, Marshalltown.
