Rites for Colo Man William Greiner, Held In State Center Feb. 19

William Greiner, 80, a farmer in the Colo community since 1910, passed away at the Woods hospital in State Center Monday morning, Feb. 19, following an illness of two weeks duration. He had suffered a stroke before going to the hospital.

Funeral services were held at St .Joseph's Catholic church in State Center at 9:30 a. m. Thursday with Father Roland J. Axen in charge. The body had been at the Brimhall West Funeral home until Wednesday morning when it was taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elmer Hartwig, where the rosary was recited at 8:00 p. m.

Interment was in Hillside cemetery in State Center. Pall bearers were Harold Greiner, Thomas Carmody, Donald Greiner, Wallace Wolken, Leland Hartwig and Ralph Riese.

Born in Illinois

William Greiner was born February 26, 1870 in Peru, Ill., the son of Wolfgang and Barbara Greiner. He was married to Miss Mary Kniel at Peru on September 1, 1897, and they came to Iowa in 1910, settling on a farm near Colo.

Two years ago, after the death of Mrs. Greiner, h went to live with his daughter, Mrs. Elmer Hartwig, near Colo.

In addition to his daughter, he is survived by one son, William Greiner of Hermiston, Oregon, one grandchild and two great grandchildren, two brothers, Louis Greiner of Colo and Adolph Greiner of Nevada and one sister, Mrs. Frances Pfab of Peoria, Ill.

Those attending from out of town were Mrs. Frances Pfab, Mrs. Edwin Helmig, Sr., Mrs. Edwin Helmig, Jr., Mrs. Emma Lobins, Mrs. Thelma Wey, Mrs. Esther Watts, Mrs. Emma Greiner, Mrs. William Sale, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sale and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Leittl, all of Peru, Ill.

Mrs. Anna Gross of Princeton, Ill., Leo Leittle of Mitchell, S. D., and others from Collins, Zearing, Marshalltown and Nevada.
