From State Center Enterprise July 8. 1937

Carl Hilleman, son of Mr. and Mrs. E H Hilleman of Nevada, formerly of this city, died at the Mary Greeley hospital in Ames Tuesday morning from injuries received in an auto wreck a short time before. His companion, Harold Andrew, also of Nevada, who was thought to have been driving the car at the time of the accident, also died a short time later.

The boys had been attending a dance near Huxley and were on their way home to Nevada. On a curve near Midvale the driver lost control of the car, presumably from a front tire blowout, and the auto left the road, turning over several times. The men were picked up by a highway patrolman and taken to the Mary Greeley Hospital.

Carl was born at State Center on September 1, 1912 and spent his early life here. He was graduated from the Boone high school in 1931 and a few years ago moved to Nevada, where he has recently been working at an oil station. He was a member of the Methodist church at Nevada and was also a corporal in Battery C, 185th Field Artillery of the National Guard.

He is survived by his parents and three sisters, Margaret, Dorothy and Esther Ruth, all living at home.

Funeral services are being held this afternoon at the Morfoot Funeral Home in Nevada and burial will be in Hillside cemetery here. Military services will be held at the grave.
