H. Sheldahl Dies; Services Saturday
Ames, April 22--Funeral services for H. R. Sheldahl, 81, who died at his home in Ames at 6 o'clock last night after a brief illness, will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Bethesda Lutheran church in Ames with the Rev. Knutson in charge. Burial will be in the Palsetine cemetery.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Carrie Apland of Ames, and one brother, Lew Sheldahl of Orange, N. J.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Belle; one son, Reuben Benjamin, who died about three years ago; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Sheldahl; three brothers and seven sisters.
He was born the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Sheldahl, pioneers of the Palestine neighborhood, on June 3, 1866 in Cambridge and united in marriage March 17, 1892 to Belle Mason of Cambridge, who died about 20 years ago.
Mr. Sheldahl was in the grain and lumber business for many years at Cambridge, Roland and Huxley until 1924 at which time he retired and moved to Ames, where he spent the remainder of his life.
