THE DES MOINES REGISTER, February 8, 1996, page 7. Obituary: "Nellie Garnet Shickell, 83, of Nevada died of a heart attack Tuesday at Story County Long Term Care. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Chet Ryan Mortuary, and burial will be in Woodland Cemetery at Iowa Center. Mrs. Shickell was born in Rose Hill and lived in Story County all her life. She retired from the production area for Donnelley Marketing and was a member of Nevada First United Methodist Church. A sister, Minnie Byers of Nevada, survives. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the mortuary, where the family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m."
