JACOBE GJERDE

Jacobe I. Gjerde of Story City died at Mary Greeley Hospital of a heart attack Monday, Nov. 12 after having entered the previous day.

He was born June 14, 1891, at Etne, Norway and came to the Unite States in 1907. July 24, 1917 he married Amy Holm of Roland. They farmed near McCallsburg until they retired in 1965 and moved to Story City.

The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City. Rev C. A. Gisselquist will officiate and burial will be in the cemetery at McCallsburg. The body will lie in state at Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife Amy of Story City, one son, James Gjerde of McCallsburg, two daughters Mrs. Lester (Birdelle) Post of Nevada and Genevieve (Mrs. Don Burger of Edmonds, Wash., a foster daughter Mrs. Gino (JoAnn) Gentilni of Mundelein, Ill.; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Iver and Brita Gjerde, and six brothers and sisters.
