E. FERREL SAFFLY [should be SAFLY]
E. Ferrel Saffly [should be Safly], 71, rural route 2, Ames, died Sunday, about 3 a.m. at Mary Greeley Hospital, Ames. He was born March 9, 1902 at Kenny, Illinois, and came with his parents at the age of 14 to the Ames area.
He was a graduate of Jordan High School, attended ISU, and was a retired farmer living northeast of Ames. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Story Co. Farm Bureau. He was married to Ernestine Reynoldson January 23, 1930 at Luther.
He is survived by his wife along with one son Dean of Decatur, Ill., one daughter Mrs. Nadine Christianson of Renton, Wash., one brother Howard, route 3, Ames; one sister Mrs. Inez Spencer of Newton, and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Milton in December 1968 and John O. 1972.
Funeral services are to be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, Ames, with Rev. Robert Simmons of First United Methodist officiating. Burial will be in Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Adams from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday (today).
