James Safly of Ames dies Fri. in Des Moines

James Milton Safly, 50, of 1203 Delaware, Ames, died at Veteran's Hospital in Des Moines about 3:30 a.m. this morning after a month's illness.

Born June 11, 1918, in Boone County, he was the son of James F. and Lettie Safly, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Nevada High School in 1935 and attended Redland University in California.

He was a veteran of World War II and had been a farmer and gas station attendant in this area.

He was a member of Napier Methodist Church.

Survivors are three brothers: John O., of RR 2, Ames, and Howard, of RR 3, Ames; and one sister, Mrs. Inez Spencer of Newton.

Funeral services are to be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Ames, with Rev. Austin Ruggers of the Napier Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Story County Memorial Cemetery, south of Ames.
